How to get to Frankfurt

 

Frankfurt enjoys a primary role in the frame of European economy, not only because it is the seat of the Central Bank, but also for all the congresses and meetings which take place here.
This affluence of people and events has notably affected the position of the city as a crossroad for railroads and flight connections.


By plane
There are two airports serving the city: the main airport: Frankfurt International Airport and Frankfurt Hahn Airport, this one mainly served by low cost companies.

Frankfurt International Airport
The main airport hosts more than 110 air lines for a total stunning number of 300 national and international destinations.
Connections
The airport is perfectly connected with the city through public and private transports.

By car
The airport is easily reachable by car through the highway Frankfurter Kreuz, which connects the A3 and A5 highways, representing the most trafficked interchange of Germany. At the airport are available short and long term car parks, and numerous car rental companies.

By train
In the airport is also present a railway station for regional and national train services, so the main destinations in Germany are all easily reachable from here.

Bus and shuttle
The airport is provided with its own bus station (Terminal 1 opposite the arrivals), while the shuttle service is ensured by the company Lufthansa Airport Bus. Thanks to this service, cities like Strasbourg, Augusta, Mannheim, Marburg/Gießen and Heidelberg can be easily reached. Although the shuttle is property of Lufthansa, it can be used by all passengers, no matter the airline you flew with.

This airport has considerably increased its importance, thanks to the growth of low cost companies.

FRANKFURT HAHN AIRPORT

Shuttle
Although situated at a remarkable distance from Frankfurt, the airport offers good connections with the city though a direct shuttle service with numerous daily rides. The shuttle also offers connections with the main airport.
The departure is opposite the airport station (Terminal A), while the arrival point in Frankfurt is next to the train station, on the corner between the Stuttgarter Straße and Mannheimer Straße.

The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 45 min.

Bus from Hahn to Frankfurt city

The bus company Terravision also provides bus links between Hahn and Frankfurt city centre.

Terravision Farncoforte Hahn

Price is 8€ one way and 14€ return ticket.

The journey takes about

75 minutes to Neu-Isenburg,

85 minutes to Offenbach Kaiserlei 

105 minutes to Hanau

By car
Those who wish to get to Frankfurt by car will have to use one of the following highways: B50, A61, A60, A643, A66.
A shuttle service permits to park one’s car in the car parks P7 and P8, and to reach the airport by bus. In this case you will have to consider at least 30 minutes for the operation. The major car hire companies are present with their desks inside the airport.

By train
Frankfurt main station (Hauptbahnhof) is one of the most important in Germany, with more than 25 platforms and an estimated volume of 1100 trains, serving the national, regional and urban stations. Due to the high volume of traffic, Frankfurt is provided with other minor stations: Frankfurt Flughafen Regionalbahnhof (airport station); Frankfurt Main West, (west station), Frankfurt Ost (East station), Frankfurt-Niederrad, Frankfurt-Rödelheim, Frankfurt–Höchst and Frankfurt Höchst-Farbwerke.

By car
Frankfurt is situated in the middle of the highway network which makes the city easily reachable from every direction.
